Hey there! I was going to say happy Back-To-Work-Monday but it's a National holiday!!! YAY. Happy sleep in and give yourself permission to be non productive for a minute! :) I'm starting a new chapter on the blog where occasionally I will highlight which vendors I've worked with that I LOOOOOVE and would totally recommend. That way as you're planning you can check out who I think are the best of the best. Today... I present my #1 choice for hair and makeup... Le Mariee.
I sent Lori over some questions to fill out and you can enjoy getting to know her and her work a bit more.
How did you get into this industry?
Lori at work doing her magic |
Ever since I can remember I have had a passion for makeup
& hair. While working for Laura Mercier Cosmetics, I got a ton of requests
for bridal work. I was faced with the decision…weddings or continuing my career working in the cosmetic industry,
I chose weddings and haven’t looked back since!
What do you love about what you do?
Obsessed with creating customized looks for brides …I love
the connection I have with my brides and the look on their faces when they see
themselves. Honestly, its beyond priceless.
What’s special about your company/ your work?

I think what makes my work special and or different, is that
I specialize in rustic/ethereal/vintage/bohemian /shabby chic styles…nontraditional looks/styles.
I am a solo artist, so I can only work with a limited number of brides
per season. This enables me to really spend time thinking about how to perfect
the look for each girl and get to know my brides.

What inspires you in your work?

Claire Pettibone Gowns, Paris, wild flowers, natural light, water colors... I find that art painting, photography inspires me. And of course my brides inspire me, their love and life their stories.
Why will our brides absolutely LOVE having you as part of their big day?
My ability to relate to various personalities and situations I work well under
pressure, my sense of humor. And I honestly think that I have mastered the ability to be
able to look at the venue. Gown. Florals, and really make certain your bridal
look is party of the story.

Open mic… anything else you want to share?
Remember more makeup than usual is necessary, even for those
natural looks. Enjoy your day, take it all in…it goes by so fast...don’t
sweat the small stuff.
Michelle's comments on the AWESOMENESS of Le Mariee
#2 Lori is AWESOME. Something that people don't think of sometimes is when choosing a vendor you need to remember you're choosing someone that you'll work with, sometimes up to a year (time between engagement and actual wedding date)! You're back and forth on email, phone, timeline etc. And on your big day you want someone who can handle unexpected, stress, timeline glitches, mom's going nuts etc. Lori is super laid back, focused, good with people and easy going.
She's so cool matter-a-fact that we're awesome friends now! |
It's great post! Thanks for sharing!
